Attractions to Visit in Cozumel
San Gervacio
Our
professional Island Tour Drivers/Guides will help you discover
the Mayan culture and all its mysteries with a visit to
San Gervacio, the largest and most impressive archaeological
site on Cozumel.
San Gervasio was a strategic point for the commercial and
political development of its era and also a sacred Mayan center.
 |
 |
Inhabited from
200 A.D. until the Spanish conquest, San Gervasio was a
sanctuary of the Goddess Ixchel, the fertility goddess,
drawing pilgrims from the entire Mayan world to worship her.
|
San
Gervacio served as a strategic point for the commercial and
political development of its era, and its centuries-old
structures were used as altar and shrines.
The facilities at San Gervacio include a snack bar, bookstore,
handcrafts & souvenir stores, restrooms and parking.
Entrance fee: $5.50 per adult
Free for children under 8 years old.
Open daily from 7 am to 4pm.
El Cedral
These days, there is very little
archaeological evidence of El Cedral's past glory because the
conquistadors tore down much of the temple. (Those darn
Spaniards!)
At one time this unique village and ruins
comprised the largest settlement in Cozumel. Compared to San
Gervacio, El Cedral's ruin is much smaller, however it is the
oldest Maya structure on Cozumel.
Located inland off the main highway, across
from the spectacular southern beaches of Cozumel, El Cedral
makes for a fun and educational stop. Your guides will
describe the history of the area and present day life to you in
full detail.
 |
 |
El Cedral has
several craft shops where you can purchase a variety of
Mexican souvenirs. As with all shopping in Cozumel,
the art of bartering comes in handy. Your guide will
be happy to give you tips or assist with your purchases.
|
There is no admission charge for El Cedral.
Tequila History Tour
 |
 |
Along the road
that divides Cozumel and leads to it's Eastern Shore you
will pass the Tequila Hacienda, where you can partake in a
Tequila History Tour if you so desire. Each tour
includes the opportunity to taste several types of tequila. |
Learn about the famous Agave plant that produces
Mexico's most famous beverage. Learn about the long process that
takes place to make numerous varieties of tequila. Taste several
types of tequila, and maybe buy a bottle or two to take back to
your home.
This option has a special admission of $18usd and we suggest a
quick 30-40 min stop so that we can get you to the Eastern Coast
and continue to explore Cozumel's Natural Beauty.
Chankanaab Park
 |
 |
Located just
9km south of San Miguel, the Chankanaab Park offers tourists
a perfect setting for exploring, snorkeling, diving, dining,
or just relaxing on the beach. This park really does
have it all. |
Declared a national park in 1980, Chankanaab is
dedicated to the preservation of all Cozumel's Natural beauty,
both above and below the water. The grounds feature a
botanical park featuring all the plant life and animal life
indigenous to Cozumel. There are also several areas
dedicated to the History of the Mayan Civilization.
The most famous attraction in the park is the
Chankanaab Lagoon, where you can snorkel amongst amazing coral
formations and a wide variety of sea life. If you love to
snorkel, no island tour would be complete without exploring
Cozumel's world famous underwater beauty.
There are many shops on site as well as snack
bars and restaurants for you to enjoy.
Admission to Chankanaab is $10usd/ adult and 1/2
price for kids 3-11)
Cozumel's Famous Eastern Coast
Bars and Beaches
Coconuts - Mescalitos - Reggae Bar and More
No tour around Cozumel would be complete without
stopping by one, or several, of Cozumel's most famous watering
holes.
 |
 |
Along with
breathtaking coastal views, with excellent photo
opportunities, you can enjoy a great taste of Cozumel.
Try a famous margarita or cold Mexican beer, or taste some
delicious local specialties prepared by local chefs.
|
Be sure to check out the famous ceviche at any
one of these stops. The idea is to eat drink and enjoy,
and leave the driving to us. Your time in Cozumel is short
and our guides want you to get the very most out of your stay.
Don't be afraid to ask your guide to suggest
"real" local restaurants and bars.. Your guide can suggest
several restaurants off the beaten path and away from Cozumel's
pricing main streets, where you will have the opportunity to
have a wonderful local dining experience. The food is good
and the price is right! This is your island tour, and our
guides love to share special experiences such as this with you.
This is what makes our island tours and your
professional guides unforgettable. Its about making
memories, and by giving you the freedom and flexibility to
explore and learn from your "amigo" and professional guide.
